Grimsby fan goes…mental

Hows about this for an ‘angry fan’.

Grimsby have been on terrible form lately, and currently lie in 23rd place in League 2. They were one of the divisions high profile casulties from the F.A cup at the weekend, going down 2-0 at home to Bath City – and one fan did not enjoy himself!

Fowler for Grimsby??

There have been rumours flying around that ex-Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler is on the verge of signing for Grimsby Town!

The goal machine is currently on a pay-as-you-play three month contract at Blackburn Rovers. But that runs out at the end of December, and it’s touch and go whether he will be offered a new one. If Paul Ince¬†decides not to keep the 33-year old, then Grimsby are as well placed as anyone to grab the veteran forward.

This is down to a long-term friendship between Fowler and Mariner’s boss Mike Newell, which could persuade Fowler to drop down to League 2. What do you think? Will we see the fourth-highest Premier League scorer in history plying his trade at Blundell Park?

And just a little throwback to Robbie at his best…

Grimsby re-sign Kalala

Oldham midfielder Jean-Paul Kalala has re-signed for Grimsby Town on loan. The deal will stretch until January 3, and it is great news for the struggling Mariners.

Grimsby have gone 20 league games without a win, and have already been overtaken by Rotherham, who started the season on -17 points.

Kalala originally signed for Grimsby in the summer of 2005, but followed manager Russell Slade when the pair left at the end of that season to join Yeovil Town.

He then signed for Oldham before the start of this campaign, but has been made available for transfer after struggling to hold down a first team place.

Kalala has been capped 6 times by DR Congo, and famously scored the winner that knocked Tottenham out of the Carling Cup in 2005. Check out that goal, and Grimsby’s famous win in the video below.
